A little research online will help you save a lot of money when you plan your vacation. When you plan your vacation with any travel agent then you will definitely pay a lot more than the actual cost. Few years back internet booking was not very popular but now there are lots of safe transaction methods which attract more consumers towards online booking.
Booking online is a tedious job though, you need to do a lot of research but when you are in a budget then it is totally worth it. There are various sites which provide numerous offers to book the desired hotel and each hotel will have different cancellation policies. Consumers should read all the terms and condition before deciding the particular hotel. Even airfares are much cheaper when booked online and the prices vary every day. There are certain days where the airfares available at a very cheap price. So start planning your trips three months before the actually date and so you will have enough time to get all the cheap offers. The other good thing about booking online is that we get to choose the area of the hotel and the type of hotel which you would like to stay in. The travel agents do not give you such choices.
I planned my honeymoon just 15 days prior the travel date and yet I was able to save a lot of money. We planned a 10 day trip to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur with 60,000Rs. I booked the hotels through hotels.com. There was a small problem with the hotel in Penang and our rooms were not reserved but the problem was immediately resolved when we called their customer care. There were no other issues other than that small one. We were able to visit all the places at our own pace. It was more like a relaxing vacation rather than scheduled tours which starts at morning 8 and goes on till the evening. The tourist agent makes the vacation into a boot camp. I felt Singapore was quite expensive when it came to food but fortunately our hotel was located near a food court which worked out better for us because my husband hates to experiment with food and luckily there was an Indian counter over there and flying from Singapore to Malaysia in Air Asia also worked out very cheap.
There is a couple I know who loves to travel. They usually use Agoda.com to book their tickets. When you book through Agoda.com you get points for the amount you spend, those points got them free stay for two nights in Bangkok. There are also other sites which gives a lot of offers on rooms. When you travel in off season then you can save even more money. There are offers where rooms’ rates are slashed to half the price and stay two nights and get the third free. The airfares will also be quite reasonable. I would prefer getting my visa through a travel agent. It might be cheaper if you do it yourself but it is a big hassle to get the necessary documents and running around to different places.
Consumers also feel that sightseeing will be a problem if you plan your vacation online but there is a lot of option for that too. There are locals who can show you around. Each hotel will have tourist desk and they will organize according to your time. Schedule sightseeing activities will go on every day.
Booking online has its own pros and cons. It is a long process to go and search online about various places to stay. It is very tedious process to compare and select. When we book on discounted rates there is always a catch. There is no cancellation and the entire amount is wasted if there is any change of plan. So consumers should be very sure about the vacation dates when we book online. There is no possibility of shifting the travel dates. So read the conditions before booking the rooms or tickets. Being in an unfamiliar country, it is very difficult to get things sorted if anything goes wrong. But when you travel through the agent you will not have any such problems as they have everything arranged from picking us up from the airport till dropping us back. So there are certain consumers who want to travel safe and have everything laid out in a scheduled manner and they don’t mind spending a little more.
